July 7, 2006 - LHP John Thomas, a 24-year-old native of Santa Maria, CA who was a member of the Rock Cats for portions of both the 2005 and 2006 seasons, was given his release by the Minnesota Twins. The 6'2"/220 lbs. southpaw was originally drafted out of Ernest Righetti High School by the San Francisco Giants in the 2nd Round of the 1999 June Draft; he was subsequently acquired by Minnesota from San Francisco in a December, 2003 trade. Mr. Thomas made 14 appearances for the 2006 Rock Cats including 3 as a Starter and concluded his 2006 New Britain campaign with a 1-2 W-L record and 6.25 ERA. The Rock Cats thanked Mr. Thomas for his service in central Connecticut. |  |
