FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed C Kelley Gulledge the Northern League club announced today. He will be in Fargo when the RedHawks open training camp on Wednesday. Gulledge, 25, spent the past four seasons in the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers organizations. He saw time with three teams in 2003, including 33 games with the New Britain RockCats of the Eastern League (AA). He batted .250 with New Britain with six doubles and a home run. Gulledge finished the season with the Stockton Ports of the California League (A), where he batted .278 with six doubles, a triple, three home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games. Gulledge was originally selected by the Twins in the tenth round of the 2000 draft out of the University of Alabama. His best season came in 2001, when he clubbed 25 doubles, 13 home runs and 61 RBIs in 97 games with the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League (A) and the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida State League (A).
REDHAWKS NOTES…RHP Brandon Culp, who the RedHawks signed to a contract last week, has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies organization and will likely be assigned to the Clearwater Phillies of the Florida State League this week. RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic will arrive in Fargo this afternoon to begin preparations for training camp. The reigning Northern League Manager of the Year is entering his ninth season with the RedHawks, where he has posted a 430-257 record and led the ‘Hawks to Northern League titles in 1998 and 2003.
