New Britain Rock Cats Press Release

New Britain, CT – The New Britain Rock Cats announced late this afternoon that Ryan Owens, a 26-year-old infielder from Anaheim Hills, CA, has been called up to the Rochester Red Wings, the Minnesota Twins’ AAA affiliate in the International League. Owens will attempt to join the Red Wings in time for their home game tonight against Buffalo.

Owens is a 6’2’’, 205 lbs. right-handed hitting infielder who displayed his versatility in New Britain by playing 1B, 2B and 3B over those portions of the 2003 and 2004 seasons he spent with the Rock Cats. In 15 games with New Britain in 2004, Owens had 2 HRs and 8 RBI.

Originally drafted by Arizona in the 7th round of the 1999 June draft, the Cal-State Fullerton product is a .262 lifetime hitter at the A and AA levels.
